PROJECT DESCRIPTION

One High Line is two sculpted travertine luxury condominium towers located in the West Chelsea neighbourhood of Manhattan at 500 West 18th Street along the Hudson River waterfront and overlooking New York’s High Line.

The development spans 800,000 SF and features a 36-story West Tower with 149 luxury residences, alongside a 300-foot East Tower housing the Faena luxury hotel. The towers are connected on the 3rd floor by a shared amenities space which includes features like a 75-foot lap pool, sauna, spa and fitness center.

One High Line was developed by Witkoff and Access Industries with Architecture by BIG, Bjarke Ingels Group with Woods Bagot. Gabellini Sheppard designed the interiors of the residences in the 36-story West Tower as well as the lobby and 3rd floor amenity spaces which included many custom millwork features by Eventscape including:

CUSTOM TEAK POOL CEILING

Custom fabrication of a 9,000 SF, Burma Teak ceiling panel cladding system in the Pool and Gym spaces on the West Tower third floor.  The ceiling cladding system was fabricated using a custom-made aluminum grid and CNC-milled fire-rated plywood. The T & G Burma teak was installed in a variety of lengths for a random, natural look and included a 5 Axis CNC milled, solid teak bull nosing to picture frame each level.  The Teak was hand-rubbed with a finishing white 102 oil finish and integrated recessed lighting coves for LED lighting. The entire ceiling was suspended from Gotham isolation spring hinge hardware to mitigate vibration and sound. Eventscape also coordinated the integration of multiple ceiling services including downlighting, sprinklers and speakers.

COLUMN WRAPS

Fabrication of 9, custom column surrounds on the third floor of the west tower. The formed metal panels, stood-off structural columns and were clad with leather like upholstery. The column surrounds were 3’5” square by 11.5” high and finished with radiused corners, French stitch details and integrated LEDs on top within a concealed cove and metal trim at the top and the bottom.

OAK WOOD WALL PANELS

Fabrication of white-oak, custom wall panels, travelling down the bridge of the 3rd floor amenities. Each panel was unique and stair-stepped to accommodate the sloped floor conditions. The 74’ wall consisted of 17, 4’ wide, 6”deep panels ranging in height from 10’ to 13’6” and two Houdini glass doors with concealed hinges. The panel cladding system was fabricated from two layers of CNC-milled fire-rated ¾” thick plywood substrate with a white-oak veneer mounted on a custom-made metal frame.

WOOD MECHANICAL LOUVERS

Custom fabrication of mechanized window louvers at the lobby entrance.

The 22, 3” wide louvers were fabricated from extruded aluminum clad with custom CNC-milled oval solid oak and were 10’ x 6” in height. Each individual fin was attached with pivot bearings at the top and bottom and included a motorized concealed mechanism to swivel louvers.
