We are currently looking for a mid-level to senior Construction Estimator to join our sales and estimating team.  This is an essential role in the life cycle of every project undertaken by Eventscape, as it establishes the resources, methods, and general framework to be employed by the project team.  The successful candidate will have an unbridled enthusiasm for challenging and unique projects, a passion for visionary design, and a broad knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and construction methods.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce cost estimates for potential projects, including rough-order-of-magnitude ballpark costings for initial budgets as well as accurate and detailed formal costings for bid proposals
  • Perform quantitative take-offs to establish accurate material, labour, and equipment costs
  • Identify and make allowances for anticipated general conditions and project-related soft costs, including mobilization, detailing, engineering, travel, etc
  • Solicit feedback, time projections, and cost information from internal staff and external vendors
  • Prepare formal bid responses, including RFI’s, bid forms, leveling sheets, qualifications, and other supporting materials
  • Gather data on past projects to identify trends, commonalities, and rules of thumb
  • Maintain and “ make better “ the internal cost reference database
  • Establish new and maintain ongoing relationships with key suppliers, vendors, and trades
  • Monitor progress of awarded projects to ensure conformance to the original budget and fabrication intent, and to absorb information about details, challenges, and successes to increase accuracy of subsequent estimates
  • Participate in post-project review meetings to gain insights from recorded data and anecdotal information
  • Identify and offer solutions for value engineering opportunities that maintain the client’s design intent as well as Eventscape’s high standards
  • Review and offer improvements to Eventscape’s internal costing tools and processes
  • Keep informed with progressive manufacturing and construction methods, digital fabrication, and the latest methods and equipment available on the market;

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field: Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, etc.
  • Experience in construction estimating, preference for large general contractors
  • Passion for discovery, creativity, design, and fabrication
  • Deep understanding of construction processes, manufacturing techniques, material properties, and standard practices
  • Ability to interpret architectural/construction drawings, written specifications, and contract documents
  • Ability to “fill in the blanks” when information is incomplete or non-existent
  • Knowledge of construction tendering, leveling, and procurement processes
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Strong Excel skills

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and organized Accounting Assistant to join our Accounting Department. This role will be primarily responsible for assisting with all aspects of Accounts Payables, Purchasing, Logistics (shipping/freight), as well as travel arranging activities. The ideal candidate must also be willing to provide assistance with and/or take on any accounting task within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Match packing slips and purchase orders with invoices, post data to our accounting program, generate payments
  • Reconcile A/P accounts, ensure orders are received and invoiced accurately, and resolve account discrepancies with vendors
  • Review vendor accounts and statements for accuracy and completeness in preparation for payables processing.
  • Perform related administrative duties, such as word processing and maintaining filing and record systems.
  • Assist with company travel arrangements and reconcile all expense reports
  • Occasional reception relief including ordering office supplies, answer and direct phone calls, organize couriers and general maintenance
  • Coordinate and process all approved shipment requests (national & international)
  • Analyze purchase order requests and ensure company expenditures fit within budgetary limits
  • Process purchase orders and/or blanket orders to ensure production requirements are met
  • Ensure materials ordered follow strict adherence to timeliness, quality control, and project budget
  • Follow up on issued purchase orders to confirm vendor receipt and acknowledgement of delivery schedule
  • Process returns of defective materials/parts and expedite replacements as needed
  • Provide vendors with all necessary documentation (credit applications, tax exemption certificates, etc.)
  • Source new material, parts, and service providers and negotiate best pricing/service while ensuring the ability to deliver and meet production and quality requirements
  • Support the accounting department with other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar accounting role
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Proficiency with excel and accounting software (Business Vision an asset)
  • Manufacturing or similar industry experience an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive “can-do” attitude

We are currently looking for a mid-level to senior Design Developer to join our sales and estimating team.  In this role you will work closely with clients and front-end sales executives to weigh in on our client’s preliminary conceptual designs from a material, finish, and construction standpoint.  This position will be required to develop fabrication solutions, create 3D renderings to help illustrate said approaches, and help estimate for the purpose of presenting costing in tandem with fabrication approaches. Ownership of the position, taking the initiative to consistently improve processes, and effective leadership and teamwork skills are essential to the success of this position. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

  • Manage all conceptual design and development projects assigned to you and the resources required for such projects;
  • Assess client needs and advise on the manufacturability of their design intent;
  • Work with the internal sales team with project development that includes preparing and presenting feasibility reports, estimating, and developing design proposals;
  • Develop initial presentation material and attend meetings to communicate possible fabrication options;
  • Determine procedures needed to fabricate the final product based on information gathered through client meetings and architectural drawings;
  • Gather quotes and negotiate prices with vendors/suppliers and work closely with in-house team to develop accurate cost estimates;
  • Produce proposal assets (including 2D and 3D illustrations, written descriptions, and schedules) to convey the intended fabrication approach, possible challenges or constraints, and project milestones;
  • Monitor progress of awarded projects to ensure conformance to the original budget and fabrication intent, and to absorb information about details, challenges, and successes to increase accuracy of subsequent estimates;
  • Research new building materials and fabrication/design techniques in order to increase efficiency of projects and properly troubleshoot current/future design challenges;
  • Keep informed with progressive building methods, digital fabrication, and the latest methods and equipment available on the market;
  • Travel may be required locally and internationally to follow up on leads, deliver presentations, and liaise with clients;
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor of Architecture or degree/diploma from a similar field of study (eg. Engineering, Architectural Technology, Industrial Design, etc)
  • 5 years’ experience estimating or budgeting complex architectural projects
  • Keen interest in cutting-edge design, fabrication, and construction projects including experimental, academic, or speculative ones, or notable advances in other industries
  • The insatiable need to continuously learn, an ability to problem-solve “on the fly”, and a willingness to jump into a project where the answers aren’t immediately apparent
  • Ability to “fill in the blanks” when information is incomplete or non-existent
  • Deep understanding of construction processes, manufacturing techniques, material properties, and standard practices
  • Proficiency with Rhino or Revit (with Grasshopper or Dynamo knowledge)

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Project Management team. The ideal candidate will possess a fabrication background with extensive experience in electrical engineering for architectural projects, but successful Project Managers have come from a variety of disciplines.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assume ownership of the project lifecycle by overseeing all elements of design and fabrication.
  • Protect the company from over-exposure by understanding the chain of responsibility and liability in a project.
  • Create and manage project schedules according to client needs and expectations.
  • Ensure the fabrication process from production to installation is in compliance with project deadlines and budget.
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients, architects, designers, and in-house staff on a daily basis.
  • Source and research materials and services, becoming exceedingly familiar with relevant specs and procedures.
  • Allocate budget resources and prepare purchase and work orders.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks and problems, then proactively troubleshoot and mitigate the issue.
  • Execute multiple projects at a time with varying scope, schedule and team structures.
  • Some site supervision and some travel may be required.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of project management experience in an architectural and/or construction industry is preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in Architecture or Engineering is an asset.
  • Practical experience dealing with commercial or industrial contract administration.
  • A strong familiarity with architectural and engineering standards and building practices.
  • Experience with the following materials/projects an asset: custom metal fabrication (aluminum, steel), millwork/furniture, Corian, fabrics, printed graphics, acrylic, signage, and lighting.
  • Ability to problem-solve with incomplete information and conform to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong sense of curiosity and eagerness to learn about new materials and processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience working with others in a fast-paced team environment.

We are currently looking for a CNC Operator to join our Digital Fabrication Department.

This position will be responsible for production flow, workspace arrangement, shop maintenance, and equipment management, particularly but not exclusively, on any CNC Router(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Set-up and operate all CNC machines (5-axis and/or 3-axis routers)
  • Manage material inventory to coincide with CNC production cue
  • Troubleshoot CNC-related problems
  • Read and interpret technical drawings

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of work experience operating a 3-axis and/or 5-axis CNC router
  • Experience CNC routing woods and plastics
  • Experience working in a woodshop and using standard tools of the trade
  • High organizational skills
  • Ability to work with a team and independently
  • Dependable and able to work flexible hours
  • Familiarity with Solidworks an asset
