Custom Interior Trellises

Project Description

Eventscape showcased its expertise with the design, engineering and fabrication of custom interior trellises for Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota. Collaborating with esteemed firms like LBH, EwingCole, and McGough, Eventscape contributed to the creation of a cutting-edge healthcare facility that marries exceptional patient care with innovative design and construction.

Situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Superior, this state-of-the-art medical center boasts open interiors spanning 942,000 square feet. Its strategic location offers breathtaking views of Duluth’s downtown, replacing the century-old legacy hospital perched atop the hill.

Eventscape’s contribution included the fabrication and installation of four massive custom trellises, strategically placed throughout key areas such as the concourse, six-story atrium, and main lobby. Using dye-sublimated aluminum extrusion slats in a wood finish, Eventscape crafted over 562 fins ranging from 9 to 26 feet in height. These fins were meticulously installed along 789 linear feet of tracks using custom-fabricated brackets and hangers, resulting in an awe-inspiring interior ambiance.

The project was honored with the 2023 Project Excellence Award for a New Project Total Over $15 Million by the Minnesota Construction Association. This accolade underscores the project’s significance and the exceptional standards upheld by all involved parties in its execution.

“Working with Eventscape was a pleasure. Their collaborative effort, inventiveness, engineering skills and respect for the design ideas allowed for a great partnership with the design team and the delivery of a fantastic design environment and objects. Their production and engineering on the trellises at Essentia was remarkable and delivered an object that in every way represented the initial design, and even improved on it. We look forward to working with them again sometime soon.”
