40’ CUSTOM LOBBY LIGHT FIXTURE

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Eventscape collaborated with Gensler, L&K Partners and IBM to create a breathtaking Quantum Wave Light Fixture for IBM’s new flagship office at One Madison Avenue in New York City. The 270,000-square-foot space, which houses more than 2,000 employees, is designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and sustainability. The building is LEED Gold CI certified, utilizing IBM’s own technologies to track and report on sustainability efforts.

At the heart of the office’s grand lobby is the 40-foot-long Quantum Wave Light Fixture, a striking custom sculpture that embodies the convergence of art and technology. Drawing inspiration from quantum physics, the fixture mimics the patterns of sine and helical waves, with shifting perspectives revealing new dimensions as the viewer moves around it. This dynamic quality mirrors the complexities of quantum computing, where each observation influences the outcome.

Eventscape fabricated and installed the glowing 40’l x 6’h x 6’w light sculpture with 16 Sine (or half Waves), 32 Helical (or quarter) waves, and 16 horizontal waves supported by a steel strut system and custom aluminum nodes. The lighting, provided by dimmable white prism zig-zag strips add to the piece’s ever-changing visual impact. More than just a fixture, the Quantum Wave serves as a visual representation of IBM’s commitment to blending technology and creativity in a space designed to inspire future breakthroughs.
